The Sports Day was planned to mark the opening of the High School Recreation Grounds. It was expected that the teams would be Dundee HSFP and Panmure. However the reports of the rugby match state that it was instead played by Dundee HSFP and Perthshire.

1924: The Dundee Evening Telegraph (4 April 1924) gave this build up: ‘Those who sometimes complain of rugby being all scrumming and very slow should revel in the kaleidoscopic speed of the seven a side game’. The Dundee Sevens tournament of 1924 did prove a great success. So much so that the Dundee Courier (9 April 1925) stated: ‘So successful was the venture in every respect that, as already announced, the Midlands Union have adopted the idea and henceforth the tournament will be run annually under their auspices.’ (See Midlands District Sevens for these tournaments.) Dundee HSFP planned its own tournament again in 2008 but this was cancelled.

The club disbanded in 2021 on its merger with Morgan Academy RFC. Morgan also ran it’s own Sevens tournament. A new Sevens tournament began that year named the Dundee City Sevens.
