12 April 1947
From The Press and Journal of 11 April 1947:
Fourteen clubs will take the field in the Aberdeen Seven-a-side rugby tournament tomorrow. The ‘sevens’ include:- Ross Sutherland; Perth Academicals and two teams from 30th training battalion. Of the Aberdeen clubs, Aberdeenshire, University, Wanderers, Gordonians and Grammar F.P.s have each entered two teams.
During the war years and even last season there were as a rule, two or possibly three sevens that were favourites to win the Aberdeen rugby club’s charity trophy, which is at stake again tomorrow, but on this occasion there are no favourites.
Proceeds of the tournament will go to the Aberdeen University Gala Week Fund. Prior to the final tie there will be the usual exhibition game between Robert Gordon’s College and the Grammar School.
